Every year some of my friends, many dating back to Middle School, get together for what we call Thanksmas. It’s our own little Holiday between Thanksgiving and Christmas that we can spend time, deep fry a few turkeys, usually play some LAN games, it’s good times. We also do a secret santa which is also quite fun. This year, my SS was Travis who bestowed to me a Zombies!!! (the card game – you gotta play it; it’s awesome!) and some albums I had been wanting on vinyl.

One of them was Broken Boy Soldiers by the Ranconteurs, which had a somewhat vintage sound to it that I appreciated. The other was Wasting Light by Foo Fighters. I have to say, among these two, if I had to pick one as the winner, it would be Wasting Light. Not only is the album itself quite good, the album sounds absolutely stunning on vinyl. Collecting vinyl for the superior sound is only part of the reason I collect, particularly given modern digital formats. But, needless to say, Wasting Light sounds the best of all my modern vinyl. Much of the reason is probably due to the fact that both records that comprise the album spin at 45 RPM.

I have touted the merits of vinyl so I won’t rehash it here. Suffice to say, I think Wasting Light is my new favorite album on vinyl and may prove hard to beat. If I could only find Pendulum’s Immersion, though…

So what about the Zombies!!! expansion? I haven’t had a chance to play it yet, unfortunately, but it looks fantastic – as is the base game. Even Corey seems to like playing it! It’s almost like a zombiefied version of Screw Your Neighbor. Good times!
